Listen to the music of "I ain't gonna wait forever", and "Life Without You",
and read about how the songs came
about, as well as gain a little
insight in the recording of the album.
My debut album "Aqua" was released in October of 2008; those songs are not on
this page yet, I will add them at a later point. Thanks!
please be patient while the songs are being loaded
This song came to me after a short fling with a friend. I knew it was not gonna go nowhere between him and I, and, while driving to Sterling CO, this
song was born. To me this tune is the saddest on the album because it reflects those 'good bye' moments that we don't
want to go through but that are inevitable in life.

This is how it feels like when your husband is about to come out of prison, I will leave it at that.
Note with regards to the recording: Marles on drums put his own twist on this song by reversing something in the drum part. I don't
know what he is doing but it sure makes it groovy as it can be!

This is a fictional story but based on a true situation, quite a few people relate to this one! It's about meeting this person in a bar,
you have a great time and you exchange numbers. That's when you start waiting for that call. Is he gonna call?? He said he would!
I wrote the lyrics on the back of an envelope at a Chinese restaurant at the KS/CO border. I just came back from my first tour and had met
this guy, etc.
About the recording of this song: the guitar lead was supposed to be a place holder, as I was going to have a trombone fill that lead. But
once we got to recording the trombone, it was 2.30am and the track reflected that... So I decided to keep the guitar lead. I would have
liked to redo it but at that point I was nearing my deadline and did not have time to re-record it. So if you notice it's rushing, it is... :)

This is my favorite on the album and also the most personal. I have a close friend who I care much about , and that feeling is mutual,
but yet we will for always remain 'just friends', for several reasons. It's cool.
About the recording: the guitar lead is the one and only track on the entire album that was not redone. In fact this was a scrap-track
but it turned out so well that I decided to keep it as is. If you listen carefully you can notice a difference in tone with the
rest of the guitar tracks in the song

Party party. This song I basically made up, but it is inspired by my wild nights back home, where the bars close at 5am and you roll out
when the sun's coming up and the sky's turning blue

I was on my first tour in The South and was on a four day stretch without gigs, which sucked. I was kinda stranded in a crappy motelroom
in Fayetteville, AR, and it had been pooring rain for days. The perfect condition to write a blues song! :) This song kinda reflects the
rough spot in my tour, as well as describes the situation that most girls run into at some point when hanging with smoochie 'boyfriends'
About the recording: this song Screams "Sax"! I know, and it was there, Steven Wilburn laid down a beautiful track. But, a few months into
the recording process, I noticed that this song was lacking energy in its entirity, and I decided to completely redo it. We could not copy
Steven's track back due to change in tempo and were running out of time to redo his track, so no sax. That's the blues I guess

My R&B side shows in this song. This is one of my favorites for the groove. I wrote it when I thought I had a special something with
this niiiiice guy, who then disappeared for a month to show up again at the East Coast where he had moved in with his girlfriend, haha!
This should have been a blues song huh? :)
With regards to the recording, this song barely made it to the album. I struggled all along with the format, and was not really able to
decide what instruments to get on it. It was not until Jimmy came in that the song came together. He placed his key-licks so well that he
became the glue that this song needed and he deserves all the credit for saving the song. Thanks Jimmy!!

This is a fictional story, I wrote the song with the horn section in mind. The theme "Yellow Green Blue" was inspired by Chris, who
drove back from a gig and when asked how his day was he said: "It absolutely sucked but I saw the rainbow so that was cool". That triggered
a lyric with me "I know the sun must be shining, cause the rainbow is coming through. I see Yellow, I see Green, and I see Blue". Of course
yellow + green = blue but you had already figured that :)
This was a nice song to close out the album with, because of the beat, but more so because it has that nice horn section that was recorded
at Willie Mitchell's. Ending the album with this song is my own little tribute to Willie, Boo and the wonderful Royal Recording Studios

I had found myself in 'a situation' for years, and it was about to get resolved. But instead of turning out well, the sitution turned out for the
worse and it was time to go and move on. "When everything is lost, there ain't nothing left to lose."
About the recording: this was the very first song that I recorded for this album, in September of 2009, and it holds a special spot
with me. I went down to Memphis
to record these first tracks and was going to use them for a killer demo. But after this session I was so inspired
that I wanted to carry that over into something more, and that's when I decided to make an album
